Extra alchemy

Potions[]

There are two kinds of potions:

  • Buffs, which give positive effects and stat boosts
  • Debuffs, which give negative effects and stats

Potions give time-limited Buffs or Debuffs when used. Potions do not stack. Using a potion will set the timer/potency of that effect, to what you consumed. The only exception to this, is the God Potion, which takes precedence over all other Buff effects, and cannot be altered by taking a different length/strength Buff potion.

Upon death (except to the void on a Private Island), all potion effects are lost. Having a Cookie Buff active prevents loss of potion effects.

The God Potion grants all Buffs to players for between 12 and 24 hours depending on their level.

Entering a Dungeon pauses and stores all existing potion effects the player has. The player can then receive potion buffs separately within Dungeons; however, only 1 potion may be consumed or splashed per run.

Base potions

Icon Potion Obtained through Usage
Water Bottle Water (source) No effect when drunk, used to make awkward potions and weakness potions
Awkward Potion Nether Wart No effect when drunk, used for other potions
Brews Purchased from Bartender It can replace the Awkward Potions as a base in some potions. See above for details.

Status Effects:

Tough As Nails

Thirst: Makes the thirst bar go down faster.

Hydration: Makes the thirst bar go up. Instant. Works similar to Saturation.

Hyperthermia: Slowly damages when the temperature gauge gets too hot.

Hypothermia: Slowly damages when the temperature gauge gets too cold.

Lycanites Mobs

Fear: Makes the player move around randomly.

Smited: Makes the player burn in sunlight, similar to zombies and skeletons.

Paralysis: A more severe slowness that disables the player’s ability to jump or move.

Aphagia: Makes the player unable to use most right-click functions, including eating and holding back a bow.

Leech: The entity with this effect will gain health when attacking other entities.

Penetration: Makes the player take more damage.

Weight: Makes the entity with this effect unable to go up.

Decay: Disables most forms of regeneration.

Plague: Applies poison every tick at the same level and time as the plague effect. When an entity with plague touches another mob, they will get it one level lower. The only thing dealing with damage is the poison effect, which can be demonstrated with the Antidote effect from Potion Core.

Instability: Makes the entity bounce around randomly. It can send them very large distances.

Smouldering: Fire, but a potion effect and bypasses fire resistance.

Bleed: Deals damage based on the level of this effect when the entity with this effect is moving.

Rejuvenation: Negates the effects of Decay. It also increases all healing.

There are a few new attributes (that can be applied to armor and tools):

Projectile Damage:

  • Attribute Name: potioncore.projectileDamage
  • Default: 1
  • Range: 0 2048
  • What it does: Represents your projectile damage from bows, thrown items, etc. Used by the archery and klutz potions.

Magic Damage:

  • Attribute Name: potioncore.magicDamage
  • Default: 1
  • Range: 0 2048
  • What it does: Represents your magic damage, which in vanilla minecraft is only from throwing harming/healing potions. Used by the magic focus and magic inhibition potions.

Jump Height:

  • Attribute Name: potioncore.jumpHeight
  • Default: 1
  • Range: 0 2048
  • What it does: Represents the height you can jump. Used by the weight and vanilla jump boost potions.

Dig Speed:

  • Attribute Name: potioncore.digSpeed
  • Default: 1
  • Range: 8.1E-4 2048
  • What it does: Represents your dig speed. Used by the vanilla haste potion (mining fatigue doesnt use it, since its effects arent linear).

Reach:

  • Attribute Name: potioncore.reach
  • Default: 4.5
  • Range: 0 2048
  • What it does: Represents your reach in blocks. Used by the reach potion.

Step Height:

  • Attribute Name: potioncore.stepHeight
  • Default: 0.6
  • Range: 0 256
  • What it does: Represents how high you can step. Used by the step up potion.

Damage Resistance:

  • Attribute Name: potioncore.damageResistance
  • Default: 1
  • Range: -2048 2
  • What it does: Represents your damage resistance, where 1 is normal, 2 is 100% resistance, and values below 1 decrease your resistance. Used by the vulnerability and vanilla resistance potions.

Magic Shielding:

  • Attribute Name: potioncore.magicShielding
  • Default: 0
  • Range: 0 20
  • What it does: Represents your magic armor, which protects you from magic damage (since magic damage penetrates normal armor). Used by the magic shield potion.

Theres also a new potion mechanic, Potion Sickness, that limits how many beneficial potions you can drink at once (in case you dont want to get too over powered). After you reach a certain configurable number of good potion effects, you will get potion sickness, which will rarely give you bad potion effects as long as you have it. So if you are too greedy, you could literally blow yourself up. It is disabled by default; you can enable it in the config file.

Most settings can be enabled/disabled/modified in the config files.

    •  CustomPotionEffects: The custom potion effects (status effects) this potion or tipped arrow has.

      • One of these for each effect.

        •  Id: The .
        •  Amplifier: The amplifier of the effect, with level I having value 0. Negative levels are discussed . Optional, and defaults to level I.
        •  Duration: The duration of the effect in ticks. Values 0 or lower are treated as 1. Optional, and defaults to 1 tick.
        •  Ambient: 1 or 0 (true/false) — whether or not this is an effect provided by a beacon and therefore should be less intrusive on the screen. Optional, and defaults to false.
        •  ShowParticles: 1 or 0 (true/false) — whether or not this effect produces particles. Optional, and defaults to true.
        •  ShowIcon: 1 or 0 (true/false) — true if effect icon is shown. false if no icon is shown.
    •  Potion: The . This name differs from the status effect name. For example, the value for an «Instant Health II» potion is «minecraft:strong_healing». A potion or tipped arrow getting its effects from this tag is named with the proper effect. The default value is «minecraft:empty», which gives it the «Uncraftable» name.
    •  CustomPotionColor: The item uses this custom color, and area-of-effect clouds, arrows, and splash and lingering potions use it for their particle effects. This color does not extend, however, to the particles given off by entities who ultimately receive the effect. The numeric color codes are equal to the hex code of the color converted to a decimal number, or can alternatively be calculated from the Red, Green and Blue components using this formula: Red<<16 + Green<<8 + Blue. For positive values larger than 0x00FFFFFF, the top byte is ignored. All negative values produce white.

Normal potions use an NBT «Potion» tag to indicate the potion type. The values of the tag (to be prefixed with ) are:

Potion Regular Level II Extended
Uncraftable Potion
Water Bottle
Mundane Potion
Thick Potion
Awkward Potion
Night Vision
Invisibility
Leaping
Fire Resistance
Swiftness
Slowness
Water Breathing
Instant Health
Harming
Poison
Regeneration
Strength
Weakness
Luck
The Turtle Master
Slow Falling

Trivia[]

  • A potion can reach a maximum tier of 127, but using the command, effect levels can reach 255.
  • When a player drinks two potions by quickly switching to another potion immediately after drinking one, the second drinking animation is not shown.[verify]
  • A potion of Poison II lasts for 22.5 seconds, but it is displayed as 22 seconds because the item hover display shows rounded-down integer values.
  • The «Local Brewery» advancement uses the Uncraftable Potion texture for its icon.
  • Bedrock Edition has unused potion textures for several effects, along with their splash and lingering variants. These effects are: Absorption, Blindness, Haste, Health Boost, Hunger, Mining Fatigue, Levitation, Luck, Nausea, Resistance, and Saturation.

There are quite a few added potion effects, including:

Attack:

  • Trueshot – Increases projectile damage (like how strength increases melee damage).
  • Klutz – Decreases projectile damage (like how weakness decreases melee damage).
  • Magic Focus – Increases magic damage (like how strength increases melee damage).
  • Magic Inhibition – Decreases magic damage (like how weakness decreases melee damage).
  • Recoil – Reflects a portion of damage back to the attacker.
  • Burst – Makes you explode but doesn’t hurt you (only your enemies), and doesn’t do block damage.
  • Explosion – Explodes you.
  • Combustion – Sets you on fire.
  • Lightning – Strikes you with lightning.
  • Launch – Shoots you up into the air.

Defense:

  • Vulnerability – Increases all damage to you (like how resistance decreases all damage to you).
  • Broken Armor – Decreases your armor
  • Iron Skin – Increases your armor
  • Diamond Skin – Increases your armor toughness
  • Magic Shielding – Protects you from magic damage (which is normally unblockable)
  • Solid Core – Gives you knockback resistance.
  • Revival – If you die with this effect on, you will revive with 2 hearts per level.

Utility:

  • Slowfall – Slows your fall and prevents some fall damage at level 1, and all fall damage at level 2.
  • Step Up – Increases your step height so you can step up a full block.
  • Reach – Increases your reach distance.
  • Climbing – Lets you climb walls like spiders.
  • Corrosion – Damages your armor and held item (except for gold items/armor).
  • Repairing – Repairs your armor and held item.
  • Flight – Lets you fly like in creative mode.
  • Random Teleport – Teleports you to a nearby location.
  • Surface Teleport – Teleports you to the top surface block.
  • Spawn Teleport – Teleports you to your spawn point if you stand still with it for 10 seconds.
  • Love – Causes breedable entities to breed with eachother.
  • Antidote – Prevents you from taking poison damage.
  • Purity – Prevents you from taking wither damage.

Other:

  • Drowning – Makes you only breath underwater.
  • Weight – Negative jump boost; makes it so you can’t jump up a full block.
  • Disorganization – Shuffles your inventory
  • Perplexity – Reverses your controls so forwards is backwards, sneak is jump, etc.
  • Extension – Prevents one other potion on you from ticking down per level. Essentially doubles the length of another potion on you.
  • Chance – Gives you one random potion effect (could be good or bad).
  • Bless – Gives you one random good potion effect.
  • Curse – Gives you one random bad potion effect.
  • Cure – Clears all bad potion effects from you.
  • Dispel – Clears all good potion effects from you.
  • Inversion – Inverts all potion effects on you (like regeneration -> wither, strength -> weakness, etc.).
  • Potion Sickness – Disabled by default. Has a low chance of giving you a random bad potion effect.

It also changes the way a few vanilla potions work:

  • Blindness – Now the fog comes closer per level (making you more blind), and it also affects mobs, so they won’t attack you unless you are close to them.
  • Jump Boost – You can control how high you jump by holding down the space bar, so you can jump up one block instead of shooting into the air.

Brewing[]

A Brewing Stand is required to make potions, which can be bought from the Alchemist for 30 coins each.

Potion brewing is similar to vanilla brewing, with Nether Wart turning water bottles to awkward potions, Glowstone Dust increasing its potency, and Redstone increasing its length. However, unlike vanilla Minecraft, Glowstone and Redstone can be stacked on each other (but only one of each kind)

There are some notable differences to how brewing works in SkyBlock, such as:

  • Brewing does not require Blaze Powder (unlike vanilla 1.8)
  • The brewing stand uses a custom UI, and players can hover over the colored panels to see time remaining (20s total)
  • Potion duration is affected by the brewer’s Level
  • Enchanted items will result in stronger and/or longer potions

Potions are brewed by placing bottles in the lower slots and an ingredient in the upper slot. When a potion is brewing, the glass panes in the middle will flash orange and yellow. After 20 seconds, the potion will finish brewing.

Most potions last 3 minutes, which is increased by level and adding Redstone. The default level of the potions depends on the base ingredient; enchanted forms give a higher base level.

Modifiers

After creating potions, players can add certain additional items to boost or alter their effect. Each effect can be combined with the others, although each effect can be applied only once.

If the Enchanted Redstone Block is added before the Enchanted Redstone Lamp, the potion duration will be extended to the 3rd level. However, if done the other way round, the duration will not be extended to the 3rd level.

Show/Hide Potion Modifiers

Duration Increasing ingredients
Make sure to add the redstone component after the glowstone component.

  • Duration — This increases the duration of the potion effect by a specific value.

    •   Redstone: Sets duration to 8 minutes
    •   Enchanted Redstone: Sets duration to 16 minutes
    •   Enchanted Redstone Block: Sets duration to 40 minutes
    •   Enchanted Redstone Lamp: Sets duration to 16 minutes + raises the level by 3; counts as both a Duration and Level modifier, and thus cannot be stacked.
Level Increasing ingredients
  • Level — This increases the effectiveness of the potion level. Each potion will have a different maximum level.

    •   Glowstone Dust: Increases level by 1
    •   Enchanted Glowstone Dust: Increases level by 2
    •   Enchanted Glowstone: Increases level by 3
    •   Enchanted Redstone Lamp: Sets duration to 16 minutes + raises the level by 3; counts as both a Duration and Level modifier, and thus cannot be stacked.
Splash Potion ingredients
  • Splash potions — This allows the player to throw potions.

    •   Gunpowder: Converts potions into splash potions but causes the total duration to be halved.
    •   Enchanted Gunpowder: Converts potions into splash potions, with no penalties. Adding Enchanted Gunpowder before Redstone will remove any benefit from using the Enchanted Gunpowder instead of normal Gunpowder.

Brews

Main article: Brews

The Bartender, the Melancholic Viking and Shifty sell Brews that can be used instead of awkward potions to boost the stat of a potion. These boosts work only on potions that already have the stat or are specified for use, and any percentage boost is to the potion’s stats, not the player’s.

There are quite a few added potion effects, including:

Attack:

  • Trueshot Increases projectile damage (like how strength increases melee damage).
  • Klutz Decreases projectile damage (like how weakness decreases melee damage).

Alchemy Experience[]

Brewing potions grants XP. The base item used to brew a potion determines the amount of XP which will be earned once the potion is removed from its Brewing Stand.

Only the first ingredient after the awkward potion affects brewing leveling XP. In some cases, players can get a tier V potion that is not in the recipe book by adding enchanted glowstone to a tier III potion, provided that the tier V version can be made without modifiers. Although the result will be a tier V potion, only the tier III XP reward will be awarded.

The Cost-Effectiveness of a potion is calculated using the ingredient’s purchasing price. If there is no purchasing price available, the material price will be used instead. If there is neither, then the theoretical purchasing price used for calculation is 2.5x the selling price.

  • Mining Fatigue – Кроме усталости при майнинге вы так же будете атаковать медленнее.
