Johnny Deepend Guide
This battle requires the help of Gooigi to complete, but he needs to be careful, as Johnny Deepend can spit out a jet of water that can melt Gooigi where he stands.
Summon Gooigi and have him hide behind the pillar next to the valve at the far end of the room. Switch to Luigi and grab a ball with the Poltergust. Wait for Deepend to start building up for a water attack and fire the ball at him, leaving him stunned. Switch back to Gooigi and use the Poltergust to activate the valve, causing the water in the swimming pool to drain and trapping Deepend in the plug socket.
Climb down the ladder into the pool and grab a ball with the Poltergust. Fire the ball at Deepend to stun him, pull off his sunglasses with the Poltergust, hit him with the Strobulb, and follow up with a slam attack from the Poltergust.
Clem Guide
The fight against Clem is one of the hardest in the game, due to the need to master the sailing controls. Luigi can push or pull the boat with the help of the Poltergust, allowing him to move across the water.
The pool of the boss arena is lined with spikes, which means that going too close to the edge will cause Luigi to be shot out of the pool. Luckily, the same rules apply to Clem and the easiest way to defeat him is by pushing him into the spikes with the Poltergust, causing him to be knocked out of the arena. Luigi then needs to reach the ladder and climb out of the pool, as you can’t pop your own boat to get to him quicker because the game will force you to inflate a new boat and get back into the pool first. Once you reach Clem, you can hit him with the Strobulb and follow up with a slam attack from the Poltergust. It’s also possible to lure Clem into being hit by one of his depth charges, but this is tricky to pull off in comparison to just pushing him into the spikes.
Oddities
Early Mansion Image
An earlier design for the mansion can be seen in the background image used on the title screen. In the cutscene played at the beginning of the game, chimneys can be seen on top of the mansion; they are not present on the title screen’s background. This implies that the title screen was created before the mansion’s design was finalized.
E. Gadd’s Lab
Using an Action Replay code, it is possible to control Luigi in the main room of E. Gadd’s Lab. The room is larger than it appears to be, and several things suggest it was once a playable area rather than merely part of a cutscene:
- It is recommended to start a new save file if the code is active.
- There are two doors, neither of which can be opened since they’re part of the room geometry and not as separate doors. One can barely be seen normally, while the other is never seen. The unseen door leads to the Training Room, which ended up being an option on the menu.
- Behind E. Gadd is a ladder. It might look like a decoration, but it can actually be climbed to a certain extent. Once you hit the apex of the ladder, you will fall down and land on or close to E. Gadd.
- E. Gadd’s Lab has a minimap, normally visible from the Game Boy Horror in the same manner as the one for the mansion. The only two places you can view it from are the Training Room and the Gallery, since you don’t have control of Luigi in the other parts of E. Gadd’s Lab.
- If Luigi lands on E. Gadd’s head he will act as if he’s in a cold environment, triggering his cold animation.

Removed Boneyard Stake
Model Render | In-Game |
---|---|
A stake can be seen in the Boneyard in prerelease screenshots, but not in the final game. However, it still exists in the simplified version of the area used for the Balcony (area2/room_11) and the same model file as used for that (a_kui_1.bin) exists unused in the actual Boneyard (area2/room_16). In , a remade model can be found in the Balcony files, but it isn’t actually placed and the model doesn’t exist in the Boneyard files anymore.

Lighting Up the Mansion
By using the Action Replay code below, it’s possible to turn on the lights in areas where they never turn on. Since hallway sections only become lit after the area’s boss has been defeated, the Basement hallway and 3rd Floor hallway lights never turn on due to their boss being the final boss, which ends the game once defeated.

Key Over the Door to the Parlor
If the key to the Parlor is obtained while in possession of the Game Boy Horror, a key icon will appear over the door to the Parlor like any other key. However, this is normally not visible since the key is obtained before the player has access to the Game Boy Horror.
Bogmire’s Internal Name
Bogmire’s model archive is called bfire.szp. Given that the names of its intro and battle tracks are prefixed with «Blue», it’s possible that Bogmire’s internal name is «BlueFire».

Tracking
In Luigi’s Mansion 3, the Boos will hide in different rooms and objects. To find them, the player must use Gooigi’s ability to track all of them.
Gooigi’s body is made of a material named Goo, this substance reacts to the frequency emitted by Boos, making vibrations when there is one close. These vibrations will appear when Luigi is close to a door that leads to the room where the Boo is hiding. When the player is in the right room, the music will change, and Gooigi will start to shake when a Boo is nearby to him, intensifying the closer he is to the ghost.
if Gooigi is still inside the Poltergust G-00, these vibrations will be notable in the player’s remote, but can also be seen in screen. The visible green Goo in the Poltergust G-00 will begin to squirm alongside the weapon while showing glowing parts twirling inside. If all the Goo is outside in the form of Gooigi, he will begin to shake instead, but if a second player is playing as him, only their remote will give these signals. They will need to find the Boo in their own or give directions to their partner playing as Luigi.
If the player interacts with the incorrect object in the room where the Boo is at the moment, they will come out of their hiding place to make fun of Luigi for not finding them and then they will disappear completely, leaving between two and four Bats to attack Luigi in the process. The player just needs to go to another room of the same floor so that the Boo can hide somewhere else. This sequence will be repeated on the floor until the white ghost is successfully found and captured. It’s possible that Boos might hide in different rooms or areas in order if the player miss several times.
It won’t count as failure if the player interacts with one of the objects in the room that are not part of the possible hiding places for the Boo or are not part of the same area.
If the player has difficulties finding the exact location of the Boo, is recommended to put the Switch remotes close to their ears to listen to the sounds that these vibrations make.
Some Boos will make new props appear in the rooms to be able to hide there too. After their capture, some rooms will go back to how they were before, while others will continue to have these new objects. No other ghosts will appear in the room where the boo is either.
The player can also purchase a Boo Finder on the Shopping Network to facilitate the search for Boos.
Information
Physical description
Gooigi has the exact same appearance as Luigi but with a translucent green effect in all his body, caused by the material he is created with, the Goo. He also has a letter «G» on his hat instead of an «L», although in some polaroids shown in Professor E. Gadd’s Research Journal he is shown without any kind of letter in his hat, leaving an empty space in the front of it.
Contrary to Luigi, he will always be seen with the same serious and emotionless expression, no matter the situation.
The Poltergust that he is wearing is part of him, and this one can be changed and used by him like any of the existing Poltergust models created by the professor depending in the game he is in.
Personality
He appears to be devoid of much personality and emotions, not freaking out or getting surprised by ghosts or dangerous situations around him, instead acting unresponsive, contrary to Luigi. This lack of empathy and feelings is also mentioned by E. Gadd in Professor E. Gadd’s Research Journal, noticing that he can be unpredictable and that he does not always act in a sensible manner.
Gooigi is also vastly unintelligent, as shown numerous times in the games, like in the Garden Suites; rather than try to grab the Elevator Button, he mindlessly stands idle, causing the button to drop to the end of the floor and forcing Luigi to take a painful ride back down. All his actions and «emotions» are copied from what he sees in other people, mostly Luigi, insted of acting by his own morals or feelings, which will explain why he is not always seen reacting in a logical or sensitive way.
He also doesn’t understand and reacts with any type of dangerous situation or even potential death for him and his allies, even caused by himself, only focusing in a clear objective given, as seen in Professor E. Gadd’s Research Journal when he doesn’t stop using his Poltergust in E. Gadd even if this was going to cause his imminent death. E. Gadd was saved thanks to water falling over Gooigi, dissolving him, but he had no intention of stopping what he was doing at any time, even if this ended the professor’s life, since he was simply commanded in that moment to use the Poltergust no matter what, not processing the situation of E. Gadd either. Another example is at the end of Luigi’s Mansion 3, when Luigi is about to fall to his death from the destroyed Last Resort. Gooigi simply waved his hand at him, it was only through being saved by Polterpup that he survived.
He also doesn’t seem to feel fear or pain in various situations, such as when seeing himself being melted by water slowly or when being hit with a giant hammer. He also doesn’t seem to show importance or fight for control when E. Gadd or Luigi control his body during missions and testing, showing lack of will and free thinking.
This mindless behavior, as well of his emotionless stature, is likely attributed to the fact that it is just in his nature as a nonhuman entity, in addition to his purpose being only to help catch ghosts for the professor, and thus he has no other function besides helping E. Gadd in this task. If not controlled by anyone, he always ends up brazenly charging forward the enemy, scaring them off, not understanding E. Gadd and just copying what he have learned by several recordings on impulse.
Despite this, he can still be seen celebrating when clearing a room or defeating a boss in the games. Additionally, when being called back into the Poltergust, he will flash a thumbs-up to Luigi. This can also be a mimic mechanism, copying only what Luigi would have done in situations similar to the ones he finds himself at the moment.
As the game goes on, however, it is implied that it’s possible that Gooigi is slowly developing a conscience and he is not only copying Luigi, as seen later on as he interacts more with him, even doing his aforementioned wave at the end. When Luigi, Mario and the others leave The Last Resort, he can be seen waving goodbye to his counterpart.

History
Professor E. Gadd’s Research Journal
Gooigi was made by E. Gadd during the events of Professor E. Gadd’s Research Journal after seeing that the Goo was an intelligent entity and was capable of the mimic of actions. This gives him the idea of using the Goo to catch ghosts for him. E. Gadd went to work to give Goo a humanoid form to be capable of such task.
He failed to give it this form until the professor remembered the biological data that the Pixelator captured when Luigi used it in the past. Taking that data and converting it into an electrical signal, he was able to then input it into the Goo, making it take the exact shape of Luigi and creating Gooigi.
E. Gadd successfully taught Gooigi how to catch ghosts thanks to various recordings of Luigi in his adventures, but E. Gadd also wanted to improve Gooigi’s Goo-based properties to give him capabilities beyond those of a normal person. He then decided that he would need ghost energy from beyond Evershade Valley, sending him to the past to the first mansion, which will lead to the events of Luigi’s Mansion (3DS). Sending Gooigi elsewhere could both make him learn more from fighting ghosts and he could also collect ghosts for him.
After his return and with the new energy collected, E. Gadd began to expirement these on Gooigi’s material. He finally created a composition of Goo for Gooigi with a malleable texture that will give him the ability to slip between bars or pass through narrow pipes.
During the rest of his research, E. Gadd studied all of Gooigi’s characteristics, abilities, and weaknesses with various tests. He also searched a way for him to control Gooigi, which will lead to the creation of the Poltergust G-00.
Luigi’s Mansion (3DS)
Gooigi was sent back in time to the events of Luigi’s Mansion in Luigi’s Mansion (3DS) to assist Luigi on his quest and collect ghost energy. If the player manages to play with a another person who has a copy of the game, or with Download Play, they can play with Gooigi as the second player. If not, Gooigi will stay in the Lab, curiously staring at test tubes.
When the player finishes the game, the future version of Professor Elvin Gadd will check if Gooigi is being used or not. If not, the professor will look sad but he will say that you can use him in the future.
Luigi’s Mansion 3
After the successful tests, in Luigi’s Mansion 3 Gooigi is back at it again, brought by E. Gadd to the hotel with him and the new Poltergust G-00.
He now can be controlled by Luigi, he is stored in a container and can be used when pressing down the right stick. While that is happening, Luigi will be seen standing in place and sleeping unless in multiplayer mode. Gooigi can also help Luigi reach to objects that he can’t reach like normal.
Polterkitty Guide
The Polterkitty is fought several times throughout Luigi’s Mansion 3 and will be faced for the first time after defeating the Kaiju Ghost. Luigi will need to track the Polterkitty across several different floors and rooms using the Dark-Light Device, as it will leave its footprints on the ground and walls.
The Polterkitty can turn into a monstrous form that likes to sit in high places. Just have Luigi stand perfectly still and wait for the Polterkitty to come down and get close. When it unsheathes its claws, spin around hit it with the Strobulb, leaving it open to the Poltergust and a slam attack. The player will need to repeat this process several times throughout the game before Polterkitty is fought.

Hidden Mansion Ghosts
Check the birdhouse to find Mario’s Letter.
Return to the Mansion. Go to the very back of the corridor on the first floor, to a glowing, locked door. As you approach it, it will shine, and the spikes blocking it will disappear, making it safe to open. This door unlocks with the Key of Clubs you received after defeating Bogmire. Out here, you don’t have much to do. You can water some of the plants for extra cash. (One contains a green jewel.) Check the birdhouse to find Mario’s Letter, another of Mario’s lost items. There are three Purple Bombers, and one Ceiling Surprise hanging from the trees. Catch them to make a chest appear, containing a lot of money. Near the door at the east side of the garden is a small wooden shed. Open it by hitting it from behind. Speak to the Toad inside. ‘Something terrible is inside that well…’ Go down the well beside the treasure chest.
Hellen Gravely Guide
The battlefield has a column in its center that can fire red lasers and create damaging walls of energy. If a single red laser appears at the bottom of the column, use the Stomp to avoid it. If multiple lasers appear, then run in the opposite direction until it stops. There are lights around the top of the arena that can be hit with the Strobulb to cause healing hearts to drop to the ground.
Gooigi is needed to win this battle. Summon Gooigi and send him through the grates into the underground area below the arena. There are four switches that can be pulled to turn off the colored walls of energy. The Poltergust can be used to push or pull the barriers that look like turnstiles. Keep an eye on Luigi and be ready to switch back if it looks like the walls or Hellen Gravelley is about to hurt him.
Wait for Hellen to hit the ground with her mirror, as this will leave her vulnerable to the Strobulb and the Poltergust. The reason why its best to shut off the walls before attacking her is that Hellen will drag Luigi around the arena and possibly pull him into an energy wall. It’s possible (but risky) to land an attack on Hellen without taking out every wall.
The later phases of the battle are similar to the first, except that the laser column will switch between its ground beam and multiple beams. If flashing blue lights appear in the underground, then that means the area will be flooded and Gooigi will need to move. Keep repeating the process and Hellen will be defeated.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

2F: The Tea Room[edit]
Hidden Mansion Ghosts
- Gold Ghost x1
- Icy Purple Puncher x3
- Blue Twirler x1
- Red Grabbing Ghost x1
- Shy-Guy x4
Watch out for any plates that throw themselves at you here. You’ll need to catch two Grabbing Ghosts to turn on the power. When you do, a large white chest will appear on the table. To get it, go to the south-east corner of the room, and stand on the circular tile. This changes the gravity of the room, dragging you onto the ceiling. Walk to the left until you find another of these tiles, which will reset the gravity, allowing you to open the chest for the Ice Element Medal. The professor will call you and explain the various uses of the Ice Element. Get some Ice from the bucket on the other table and catch the Boo. On the east side of the room there is a green gem in the drawers. Get it and leave. If you check your map (press ) you’ll see several unlocked doors on this floor. For now, go to the smallest room in the north-west.
Gameplay
Luigi’s Mansion 3 plays much like the two previous entries in the series, Luigi’s Mansion and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, allowing the player to re-explore already completed rooms and lacks missions respectively. The E3 2019 demo had a fifteen minute time limit. The Poltergust G-00 retains the basic qualities of the two previous vacuums, as well as the Strobulb item and the Dark-Light Device, though adds a targeting mechanism when blowing out items or a plunger. It also introduces new abilities, such as slamming ghosts on the ground or into each other, firing a grabable plunger with the Suction Shot, and creating a shockwave or being lifted up with a Burst. Luigi has a new device known as the Virtual Boo, a parody of the Virtual Boy, which serves the same function as the Game Boy Horror and Dual Scream from the two previous games. The money collected with the Poltergust G-00 can be used to buy Gold Bones and also to buy hints from the Virtual Boo’s E. Gadd Hotline to find in-game floor themed collectible gemstones and other various puzzles. There are in-game achievements. The HD Rumble can be felt through the Joy-Con while using the Poltergust G-00.
Gooigi, introduced in the Nintendo 3DS remake of the first Luigi’s Mansion, reappears and is stored in the Poltergust G-00, hence Gooigi. Gooigi has up to 25 HP, while Luigi has over 99 HP, and can be called upon to pass obstacles Luigi cannot, such as spikes and bars. However, it is weak to fire and water, and will lose all its health immediately if it comes into contact with them, causing an immediate Game Over. The Game Over screen showcases King Boo having Luigi, Mario, Professor E. Gadd, Princess Peach, and the two Toads trapped inside paintings and ends saying «Good Night!». Luigi and Gooigi cannot be controlled at the same time in single-player, but Gooigi can be controlled by a second player with the second Joy-Con (R) controller for co-op multiplayer. If Luigi attempts to enter a door with Gooigi out, Gooigi will automatically retract into the Poltergust G-00.
History
Prologue
Steward is first encountered in the intro to the game where he is seen behind the front desk and then seen putting bags onto a cart. He is later encountered when Luigi escorts E. Gadd to the Basement, where he is seen unloading a cart. He will then have to be fought.
Boss battle
Steward will fight by picking up large trunks and then trying to drop them on Luigi. They deal 40 damage if they connect. When carrying a baggage, Steward becomes immune to the Strobulb until it is thrown. Once thrown, Steward gets tired and does not move. Then, he is vulnerable and can be attacked. After either not getting flashed for a while or surviving after a flash and/or being sucked up, he travels to a nearby baggage and repeats. Done perfectly, Steward can be defeated in just two whole vacuums with at least 10 damage done before slamming.
