Так, Epic нанесла наибольший урон, заблокировав календарь релизов на 2019 год. Они вложили кучу денег в эту затею. Многие из моих любимых игр этого года, как больших, так и маленьких, дебютировали на витринах эпиков: Outer Wilds, The Outer Worlds, Control, The Division 2, Borderlands 3 и так можно насчитать более 50 проектов. Даже больше, они смогли добиться релиза игр Quantic Dream на ПК, и это уже совершенно новый уровень.

Теперь, когда обе компании находятся в равных конкурентных условиях, это противостояние усилится в этом году. Но несмотря на отличный первый год Epic Games Store, недостатков хватало.

Запуская магазин, они упустили много важных функций, даже поиск они ввели не сразу. Для того чтобы компенсировать это, эпики создали карту разработки и выложили ее в открытый доступ, чтобы пользователи видели, когда какое обновление ждать. Но этим они выстрелили себе в ногу, так как не смогли ввести все функции, которые планировали в нужные сроки, прилюдно показав, что они не справились. Wishlist изначально был намечен на лето, но Epic продемонстрировали его впервые только в октябре, и он еще не официально запущен. Достижения до сих пор кажутся такими же далекими мечтами, как и в декабре прошлого года, так же как и неоднозначная поддержка модификаций.

Оглядываясь назад на эту первоначальную карту развития, теперь она кажется нелепо оптимистичной. И все ж трудно не осознавать, что магазин должен развиваться дальше и дальше. Ведь даже такие люди как я, не имеющие ничего против него, недовольны отсутствием базовых функций. Еще минус, как по мне, цены у эпиков все же выше.

Speed Brawl is described as a «2D combat-racer» in which you must build up sufficient momentum to take out your opponents with hard-hitting attacks. In this sense, it is a combination of a beat ’em up, a racing game, and a traditional platformer. You can play it solo or online with your friends. Speed Brawl has a «Fair» rating on OpenCritic, with a Top Critic Average score 74.

Speed Brawl was originally meant to be given away on August 5, but was delayed.

Saints Row: The Third Remastered (August 25 – September 2, 2021)

Saints Row: The Third Remastered has been added as an extra giveaway (in addition to the usual Thursday freebie), to celebrate the announcement of the series’ imminent reboot. If you are unfamiliar with the IP, it began its life as a slightly quirkier take on Grand Theft Auto, before eventually developing into its own thing, complete with playable toilets, alien spaceships, superpowers and virtual realities.

Many argue that the franchise began to hit its stride with this third installment, which has been remastered here with enhanced graphics, improved lighting and visual effects. Saints Row: The Third Remastered has a «Fair» rating on OpenCritic, with a Top Critic Average score of 74.

In January, Epic offered a duo of Darksiders games and did have to cancel For the King as it wasn’t ready to release on schedule.

Developed by the team behind Microsoft Flight Simulator, A Plague’s Tale: Innocence is a stealth survival-horror title, in the vein of The Last of Us. Only rather than escorting a young girl (who is the key to humanity’s survival) through a post-apocalyptic landscape, you are instead escorting a young boy (who is the key to humanity’s survival) through France, during the era of the hundred years’ War and the black plague. A Plague’s Tale: Innocence has a «Strong» rating on OpenCritic, with a Top Critic Average score of 82.

Yooka-Laylee (August 19-26, 2021)

«Yooka-Laylee» has a «Fair» rating on OpenCritic with a Top Critic Average score of 72.
Playtonic Games

Created by a team of former Rare developers, under the banner of Playtonic Games, Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to the original Banjo-Kazooie titles of the 1990s. Like in those fondly-remembered platformers, this is an out-and-out collectathon.

You will get to explore a variety of colorful environments, participate in zany minigames, and interact with quirky NPCs, with the aim of accumulating as many «Pagies» as you possibly can. Once you get enough, you will then be able to progress to the next level.

July 2020 Games

Conan Exiles has been pulled at the last minute despite the free download supposedly being part of the game’s launch on Epic Games Store. In addition, The Escapists 2 is finally being released for free after being pushed out of last month’s offerings, again, at the last minute.

И все же в начале декабря ремастер Halo – возглавил список самых популярных игр в Steam, и достиг пика 123 000 игроков в онлайне.

Это был третий крупный релиз Microsoft, который вышел в 2019 году в Steam после Gears 5 и Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, а в будущем этот союз, я думаю, окрепнет.

Void Bastards is a first-person shooter with a cel-shaded art style and various roguelike elements. In the game, you play as a prisoner stranded aboard a derelict space craft, who has been deemed expendable by the ship’s A.I.

You are subsequently dispatched to raid nearby vessels (standing in here for dungeons) in the hope of finding materials that can be used to salvage your own ship. As per roguelike convention, if you die in any of these procedural-generated environments you will lose most of your inventory, but your overall progress is retained. You then take control of a replacement prisoner, who is sent on the exact same suicide mission.

The Free Games program was expected to last until the end of 2019 but has continued well into 2020. In terms of growing the Epic Games user base, it seems to be a massive success. There is also no shortage of video games to keep this going every week.

Tharsis is a turn-based strategy game that puts you in charge of a four-person astronaut crew, who are investigating a mysterious alien signal on Mars. Rather than being explicitly combat driven, Tharsis is more about problem-solving, as you attempt to help your crew survive the harsh nature of space. Among other things, you will need to conserve their resources, coordinate ship repairs and manage everyone’s sanity levels.

May 2019 Games

And oldie, but a goody is available in World of Goo. Later this month, Nocode’s Stories Untold will hit the store for free ahead of the upcoming Observation release.

In addition, as part of the Epic Mega Sale, the platform is upgrading its frequency of free games. During the four week long promotion, three more games will be free alongside May’s Stories Untold and whatever launched in June. Rime is the first game that will be available for a week long promotional period.

What Is the Epic Games Store Giveaway?

Epic Games is giving away free games every week in 2021, with at least one new title being offered each Thursdays at 11 a.m. ET.

These free titles are only available for a 7 day period, at which point they are replaced by the next giveaway, so make sure to grab them while you still can.

To download your free game of the week, head to the Epic Games Store and create a new account or sign in to an existing one. Once you’re logged in, hit the «get» button and download the game, which will be yours to keep forever.
