Gameplay[]
When the matchmaking system successfully finds enough players for a game, the map begins to load while a loading screen displays the composition of each team for the upcoming battle. A 30-second countdown will start when eighty percent of all players have successfully loaded the map. When all players are present while the countdown is still active, the timer will switch to 3 seconds before starting the battle.
Objective
The objective for both teams is to destroy all opponents’ vehicles, or to capture a control point (also known as «base»). The location of control point to capture depends on the subtype of standard PvP match played.
- Standard — Each team holds one control point, and the goal is to capture the enemy’s control point on the other side of the map.
- Encounter — There is one neutral control point located around the center of the map, and both teams should fight for its control.
Mechanics
Standard PvP mode is considered a team deathmatch; there is no respawn available for all players, therefore a vehicle that has been destroyed in-game will remain unplayable until the end of a match. Each battle has a 15-minute time limit. Within that limit one team has to win or lose, otherwise the battle will be declared a draw with reduced rewards for both teams.
In situations where the matchmaker cannot create full-scale teams larger in a timely manner, players in a queue will be placed into a Skirmish match, which features fewer players in a match-up on a reduced size map.
Rewards
When a mission ends, players are presented with a debriefing screen with the battle result. Experience and are rewarded based on the players’ individual performance. The winning team receives higher rewards than the losing team, but players on the losing team who have performed well can also gain substantial rewards.
Players can also earn Epic Medals by fulfilling specific requirements in a PvP match. Earning multiple Epic Medals in a single match can also reward the player with decorative Mastery Flags for the vehicle that participated in the said match.

Player Recommendations[]
This vehicle is best played as a hull down support vehicle taking cover behind a rock, wreck, hill, or other position where only its well armored turret is exposed to incoming fire. Failing that, it can be a second line MBT capitalizing on firepower and agility, the latter to avoid incoming fire with the help of smoke grenades. The hull is weak and vulnerable, and any hits are best taken on the turret.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Premium vehicle, so additional credit and reputation generation.
- Tier 8 armor on the turret, along with great gun depression
- Has better AP ammo than an upgraded M1A2, giving it outstanding firepower at tier 7
- Agile and nimble for an MBT
- Compared to the Sabra Mk. 2, it has better camo, higher DPM, better traverse speeds, and a higher top speed.
Cons
- Weak hull armor for its tier. Even lower tiered vehicles might frontally penetrate it.
- In comparison, the Sabra Mk. 2 has better penetration, accuracy, acceleration, view range, and has ERA.
- Only available in the Collector’s Edition bundles
- Commander: Phillip Holzklau
- Driver: Off-road Driving, Spin to Win
- Loader: Rapid Fire, Explosive Shells
- Gunner: Sharpshooter, Do the Twist

History[]
Class: Fire Support Vehicle (Proposal)Developed: 2000-2012Service: N/AVehicles Built: N/AOperators: N/AThe Leclerc T40 was first designed as a counterpart to the Russian BMPT series in order to accompany MBTs and defend them from infantry threats they’d have a hard time against. The idea was to convert a number of existing Leclerc tanks to carry a T40 turret armed with a 40mm automatic cannon or even ATGMs. Interestingly enough, the way the vehicle was designed, these conversions would be reversible. The project was, however, never put to production for a number of reasons, including high cost, debatable combat value and poorly developed tactics for such vehicle class. After all, even the Russians weren’t keen on accepting their own BMPTs in service. The project was terminated at some point after 2012.
Player Recommendations[]
With a well-designed turret and ample gun depression, the M60 serves as a viable ridge poker and hull down defender that can also brawl in a pinch. While its hull armor is mediocre at best and its mobility is lacking, it compensates for this with a relatively high rate of fire and good gun handling, along with being one of the first vehicles in the game to offer ERA protection.
Cons
- Poor hull armor
- Poor mobility
Upgrade Suggestions
To compensate for the slow speed, upgrading to the AVDS 1790-2A Diesel Engine will provide a moderate mobility boost. Upgrades to the firepower should be considered next, as the long-range capabilities of the vehicle can be boosted by the accuracy and ammunition upgrades offered.

History[]
Tank Destroyers are vehicles specifically designed to kill enemy tanks on a budget, whether designed from scratch or converted from another existing vehicle. Their battlefield role was to engage the enemy at long distances and to maneuver shortly after to avoid return fire. The Tank Destroyer class saw its golden days during the Second World War, where various vehicles were devised to fight enemy tanks while being relatively cheap to produce. Many of these wartime vehicles used existing chasses fitted with a more powerful gun than such a vehicle would normally carry mounted in the hull, where it could only aim forward in a certain traverse. There were exceptions, such as the American M36 and M18, which were more or less very poorly armored tanks.
After the war, the Tank Destroyer class was rapidly replaced by a universal combat vehicle – the Main Battle Tank. Few post-war gun Tank Destroyer designs achieved any significance, some of them being the German Kanonenjagdpanzer, Swiss Taifun II, and Russian SU-152 Taran. In the 1960’s, with the rise of special vehicles armed mostly with anti-tank guided missiles, such as the German Raketenjagdpanzer or British FV438 Swingfire, the Tank Destroyer class begun to branch out from its Second World War roots. Universal fire platforms such as the M1128 MGS and Sprut-SD begun to appear, which were mostly designed to provide fire support for infantry and lightly armed vehicles but could engage and destroy older enemy MBTs if required. One of the more unusual branch of modern hybrid class vehicles is the Russian BMPT-series, otherwise known as Terminators.
History[]
Class: Main Battle Tank (Experimental)Developed: 1980sService: N/AVehicles Built: N/AOperators: N/AThe Object 490 (some sources claim this variant was called «Belka») was one of several variants carrying the designation and was developed in Kharkov specifically to carry the 152mm 2A73 smoothbore cannon. As tank designs went, its properties were pretty much without equal. It offered impressive protection and firepower along with quite distinctive four-track chassis, powered by two ZiM 4TD engines, producing up to 2000hp. Most notably, the crew compartment was located in the rear of the wedge-shaped hull with pretty much everything (including massive slabs of armor and an entire turret) between it and the enemy. This combination provided unprecedented levels of crew protection – for the frontal hull (the upper frontal plate), it reached from between 2000mm of RHAe to incredible 4500mm of RHAe. The unmanned turret was, of course, protected less, as it itself acted as a protection element for the men inside. In summary, the Soviets came up with a vehicle that was practically impossible to knock out from the front, had a hydro-pneumatic adjustable suspension and was armed with a massive automatically loaded gun that could take out anything the NATO could field. The use of experimental technologies, however, meant that it was clear to everyone involved this tank would never see active service. While advanced, it was clearly too expensive for any mass-production. The photos that were discovered relatively recently belong to a full-scale wooden mock-up from the late 1980s or the early 1990s, which is as far as the tank got. With Ukraine split from the Soviet Union and running into economic troubles of its own, there was simply no funding for such fantastic endeavors and the project passed into history along with the other late Soviet era next generation tanks that were supposed to lead the Red Army into the 21st century.
Player Recommendations[]
Featuring excellent mobility and a potent ATGM launcher, the VBL TOW is an ATGM-only vehicle which functions as a long-range sniper. With excellent camouflage, a good view range, and excellent gun depression, the VBL TOW is tailor made for long range ridge poking and sniping, relying on its camo rating and mobility to make up for the fact that its armor is ineffective against many weapons.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent camouflage rating
- Very good mobility
- Very good gun depression
- High damage ATGM
- Great DPM for 20mm autocannon. Almost instant reload. Extremely high ROF. Huge clip.
- Looks cute, but dangerous
- Invisible movement
Cons
- Negligible armor
- Low hit points
- Low survivability
- TOW makes it into an inferior version of «Swingfire»
Upgrade Suggestions
Because of the VBL TOW’s reliance on firepower and mobility, upgrading to the BGM-71C TOW ATGM and M14 TCI Turbo-diesel Engine should be an early priority.
- Commander: Sabrina Washington, to improve the camo rating, view range, and crew stats
- Driver: Spin to Win, Off-Road Driving
- Gunner: Sharpshooter, Do the Twist
- Loader: Rapid Fire, Explosive Shells/Preparation
Player Recommendations[]
Play with this tank Hull down according to the new armor calculator the frontal arc of the tank can be penetrated very easily at close range at 30 m the penetration of an armor piercing round is that mid to lower 70%. While at 1,000 meters it goes down from 75 or 76% to about 18%. Distance is key but this tank so it might be good as a short to mid-range sniper. So remember to keep your distance from the enemy and you won’t take damage, the closer you are to the enemy the more the penetration is likely.
Cons
- speed lost in turns
- Stock Ammo
- Frontal armor can be pened at close range(See armor Calculator for more details)
Player Recommendations[]
As a self-propelled gun, the M108 is best used as a support vehicle for helping the team progress by removing heavily armored targets such as MBTs from the battle. Teamwork is needed for those both working with and playing an SPG. Teammates should be asked to call out targets if they are in trouble, and front-line vehicles should be supported in the battle.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Splash radius around shell, useful for resetting base capture
- More accurate than higher caliber artillery
- Decent mobility
Cons
- Long reload and aiming time
- Weak armor
- Dependent on other vehicles for spotting
Upgrade Suggestions
As the upgrades are very limited and are only marginally effective for the purpose of the vehicle, the Improved Tracks and Upgraded Exhaust Smoke are recommended, but not vital.
- Commander: Freja Hojbjerg, for improvements to aim speed and overall accuracy
- Driver: Smooth Ride, Off-Road Driving
- Gunner: Sharpshooter, Do the Twist
- Loader: Rapid Fire, Explosive Shells

History[]
Class: Self-Propelled GunDeveloped: 1953-1961Service: 1963-1974Vehicles Built: 355Operators: USA, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, Taiwan, TurkeyThe M108 was a 105mm self-propelled gun, developed alongside its sister project, the larger M109 in the 1950s. Due to a number of delays and setbacks, the vehicle didn’t reach production until 1961. Generally speaking, the M108 was not a very successful design and far less so than the M109. Production only ran until 1963 with a mere 355 vehicles built. At that point, the U.S. Army decided to unify the artillery caliber of the mechanized divisions to one – the 155mm. The only American combat use of the M108 occurred during the Vietnam War, where a few M108s were sent along with the M109s. The terrain was a major problem that hampered non-tracked vehicle movement, but the M108s and M109s were valuable because they could pass through the mud, had enough armor to protect their crews from Vietnamese light infantry ambushes and the turret traverse allowed them to engage targets in all directions, something the towed artillery was incapable of. On the downside, towed artillery was essentially helicopter-transportable and could be deployed and used in remote areas and during helicopter assaults while SPGs were more restricted. They would typically remain stationary as part of American fire bases, providing supporting indirect fire on call and defending the base itself. The first M108 unit was deployed in Vietnam in June 1966 and by mid-1968 there were already 36 M108s in Vietnam that remained until mid-1970, when they were recalled back to the United States. After the Vietnam War, the M108 didn’t see all that much service. A few vehicles were converted to OPFOR needs starting in 1974 and that was it. The vehicles were officially retired shortly after the end of the Vietnam War. At that point, most of them were sold off to other countries.

Class: Main Battle TankDeveloped: 2010sService: 2017+Vehicles Built: cca 38-50 (176 for Pakistan pending)Operators: Thailand, Nigeria, PakistanUnlike Type 99, the VT-4 MBT, also known under the name MBT-3000, was made specifically with export in mind. It is based on an older VT-1 model, which itself has roots in the Soviet-era T-72 MBT that was reverse-engineered by China in the 1980s. Performance-wise, it’s allegedly roughly on par with the Type 99, although actual evaluations are hard to come by. It first appeared on public radar in 2015 when the company responsible for its marketing, the China North Industries Corporation (commonly known as NORINCO), made a bold claim that the VT-4 was actually better than Russia’s T-14 Armata. The vehicle itself, however, is older. It was first mentioned (along with a few renders) to public in 2012 with the vehicle itself appearing in 2013. The true public unveiling happened during the 10th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in November 2014, following the August 2014 presentation for journalists and officials in Mongolia.Realistically, the VT-4 is, when it comes to performance, on par with other tanks of its generation such as the Type 99 and the T-90SA. Despite its affordability and its strong marketing campaign, however, the only deal that NORINCO was so far able to secure were 38 tanks for the Royal Thai Army. Originally, Thailand ordered the Ukrainian Oplot-M main battle tanks but the endless delays due to the conflict in Ukraine left them with no choice but to look for an alternative. These tanks were delivered between 2017 and 2019. Nigeria also received several vehicles in early 2020. Finally, 176 vehicles of an upgraded variant were purchased in 2020 by Pakistan.
Player Recommendations[]
Speedy, powerful, and without a shred of armor on its frame, the VBR is a lightning flanker and sniper, capable of dealing massive damage with its four-shot salvo of ATGMs and quickly relocating to avoid counterattacks. When played right, the VBR is a deadly threat to oblivious, low health enemy vehicles whose attention can be drawn away by a teammate MBT. Since the VBR has little in the way of protection, care is required.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent camouflage rating
- Very good top speed
- Very good gun depression
- Devastating burst damage with ATGM launcher
Cons
- Negligible armor
- Long reload on the four shot ATGM
- One crew member limits improvement options
- Takes heavy damage from falling

As the VBR is all about firepower and mobility, upgrades should be accordingly focused. For mobility, upgrading to the Improved Wheels will improve between-position mobility, while firepower upgrades like the EOSS System and Milan 3 ATGM will increase damage output.

Player Recommendations[]
The Type 96B is best played like other contemporary Chinese MBTs. Use your speed and agility to put yourself into favorable positions and support your team by doing damage. If you are top tier, consider spear-heading advances with the proper caution and discretion with your speed. Also in close quarters with your ECU ability or even just getting enough of a head start, and having your driver and retrofit for ramming, you can finish off low health enemies or smash into light or medium vehicles for good chunks of damage. Try to avoid ramming vehicles heavier than yourself as that is just an unfavorable trade for you. Very hard-hitting AP rounds and speclal Tandem-HEAT ammo ensure a heavy damage output vs. heavily armoured opponents, although trading shots with other tanks is risky due to your own low armour, and HP. Exploit the 96B’s fluid movement to out-manoeuvre opponents.

History[]
Class: Main Battle Tank (Experimental)Developed: 1980Service: N/AVehicles Built: 1Operators: N/AThe TTB is not a prototype but, as its name suggests, an American test bed for the latest tank development technologies. It was an initial base of the Block III Abrams project, designed to replace the existing Abrams tanks with something capable of defeating any future Soviet tank that was predicted to appear in the 1990s. In its modified Abrams hull, the entire crew of three sat in front (where only the driver would normally be), quite safely hidden behind the thickest armor. Fuel tanks were removed to make place for the extended crew compartment. The crew would use advanced cameras to aim the tank’s weapon systems that were installed in an unmanned turret, located where the standard Abrams turret would normally be. This unmanned turret would be armed with the standard Abrams weapon (although quite modern at that time), the M256 L/44 smoothbore cannon. The gun would be fed automatically from a 44-round carousel magazine under it. The development of the Block III Abrams ceased after the breakup of the Soviet Union and the entire Block III Abrams program was cancelled. One thing to note about the TTB in Armored Warfare is that it’s not going to be strictly realistic – more like our take on how a Block III Abrams would have looked like if it was produced in the 1980s and upgraded today to match the needs of modern battlefields the same way the Americans are upgrading the existing M1A2 series.
