- August 24th — The team is announced.
- November 23rd — Biryu changes from support to coach and sub, while the previous coach, Pandaego, is let go.
- November 27th — joins from Cloud9 as the new support player and captain.
- February 4th — Resolut1on replaces TC.
- March 24th — Amid rumours of the team’s status, is confirmed to have rejoined Team Secret as a coach.
- March 25th — BuLba and Aui_2000 leave the team to join Evil Geniuses.
- March 26th — The team is rebuilt, with only Resolut1on remaining from the previous team. w33, Moo, Saksa and Misery join him.
- August 25th — Moo is kicked from the team and replaced with MoonMeander. Blitz joins as coach.
- April 6th — SUNSfan leaves DC.
- April 14th — DC’s entire roster departs the organization. DC signs the members of Team Onyx.
- May 8th — DeMoN leaves the team.Forev joins as the new offlaner, while Bulba moves to support.

За пять лет на дота-сцене изменилось многое. Неизменным осталось только одно: в Америке была и остается только одна команда, с которой действительно готовы считаться на международной сцене — Evil Geniuses. Но в декабре 2014 года их окрестили главными неудачниками. Из EG после провального турнира ушли главные звезды — Артур «Arteezy» Бабаев и Людвиг «Zai» Уолберг.
«Давайте будем честны, тогда все считали, что EG в заднице, — объяснял Дагер в интервью Дункану «Thorin» Шилдсу. — До прихода Zai, Arteezy и меня EG не добивались особых успехов. А тут из команды уходят двое из трех новичков. Все были уверены, что мы проиграли решаффл. Что нам не выбраться. Я тогда звал в команду Нотейла, но он отказался. Он считал, что любой другой вариант будет лучше, чем играть в новых EG. Всем было все равно, что мы заняли топ-3 на TI. И если посмотреть со стороны, они были правы».
После ухода Артура и Людвига оставшиеся игроки Evil Geniuses во главе с менеджером Чарли Янгом засели в скайп обсуждать варианты. Они перебирали игроков, возможность смен позиций и стиля игры. Разговор был тяжелым и затянулся надолго. Клинтон «Fear» Люмис решил отдохнуть от раздумий и прогуляться.
«Я вышел из дома, чтобы проветриться и разобраться в собственных мыслях. Меня не было дома где-то около часа. Когда я вернулся, у нас уже был мидер», — рассказывал Fear.
Кандидатуру Сумаила предложил Саахил «Universe» Арора. Они не раз попадались в одной команде в рейтинговом матче или играх на NEL. Чарли Янг, скаутским глазом изучавший новичков сцены, был уверен в этом выборе.
«Я видел, что он станет звездой», — утверждал он.
Сопротивлялся только PPD, который побаивался необузданного характера и таланта юного пакистанца. Но все равно сдался, просматривая очередной реплей с хайлайтом.
«Мы не знали, что он вырастет в такого игрока. Но мы надеялись на это, — вспоминал Питер. — Поэтому мы воспользовались этим шансом, а не выбрали кого-то знакомого. Может, кого-то из американских игроков, которые метались между командами. Мы могли бы сделать так, и это был бы простой выход. Но мы не хотели быть топ-8 или даже топ-4. Мы хотели побеждать. Так что мы решили рискнуть и взять кого-то совершенно нового. И посмотреть, как это сработает».
Дело оставалось за малым — забрать из дома несовершеннолетнего мальчугана, чтобы показать ему большой мир киберспорта. Чарли Янг приехал в квартиру Хассанов в строгом костюме. Он рассказал маме Сумаила, что теперь их сына ждет большая карьера — ему будут платить зарплату в 4 тысячи долларов и часть призовых, которые он будет зарабатывать на турнирах. Мама заикнулась о школе, но и тут у Янга все было схвачено. Он посетил школу Сумаила, где рассказал учителям, почему ребенок будет отсутствовать на уроках. Собравшиеся стайкой одноклассники интересовались: «Кто этот парень?»
«Вот этот в костюме? Мой личный менеджер», — гордо отвечал Сумаил.
Самым страшным моментом казался разговор с отцом, которого не было в стране, когда Чарли посещал семейство Хассанов. С ним пришлось разговаривать по телефону.
«Есть ли у меня возражения? Нет, — ответил Сумаилу папа. — У меня нет никаких возражений. Это твоя жизнь. Сделай так, чтобы мы тобой гордились».

- May — Virtus.pro ventures into Dota 2 with a squad consisting of NS,KuroKy,Santa,Azen and Dread.
- June 6th — In an interview it is revealed that Azen and Dread have been replaced by blowyourbrain and Scandal.
- June 30th — KuroKy reveals that the team now only consists of captain NS and Santa.
- September 16th — KSi, Crazy and Illidan are announced to be part of the team for the upcoming Star Series Season 3 Season.
- March 21st — Santa leaves the team.
- March 21st — ARS-ART joins the team as a temporary stand-in.
- August 15th — Illidan, Crazy and KSi departs from the team after a disappointing TI3.
- August 28th — The first step to rebuilding the VP roster is made as LighTofHeaveN rejoins the team after a stay with Team Empire. The following day an announcement is made, declaring that ARS-ART is kicked from the team, but that Goblak, G and Resolut1on will join VP completing the five man roster.

Они даже потренироваться нормально не могут из-за того, что половина состава нет. Не думаю, что при всех своих игровых проблемах и постоянными заменами в составе «злые гении» смогут хоть что-то показать на этом турнире.
Букмекеры предлагают на победу Astralis с форой (-7,5) коэффициент 2,00, что выглядит отличным вариантом. Также можно взять победу датчан со счетом 2-0 за коэффициент 2,30 или тотал карт меньше 2,5 за коэффициент 1,85

У EG на The International в рукаве было два козыря: понимание собственной игры и удача. Первое позволило им легко дойти до финала верхней сетки. Второе помогло избавиться от главного соперника на турнире — Team Secret. EG с ними так и не встретились. Главные фавориты турнира похоронили сами себя, открыв «Злым гениям» путь к чемпионству.
«Нам очень сильно повезло. А еще мы знали, как мы хотим играть и совершенно не хотели этого менять, — объяснил Питер. — Мы были уверены в том, как мы играем, пикаем и исполняем. Нашим основным партнером по тренировкам была CDEC — мы играли с ними множество раз перед TI и даже во время. Мы нашли себя как команда».
В финале EG встретилась с теми самыми CDEC — командой-сюрпризом из Китай. Но для Сумаила это была не первая встреча.
